There are 2 things coming up this month that I'd like you to be aware of:
1. We are having our STAB meeting on Sept. 9 from 4-6. I would REALLY appreciate it if you could come since a couple of my colleagues will be there and you guys always make me look good. Thanks in advance. This will also give you the opportunity to ask Angie, the YA Selector from Service Center, about what we are buying and choosing for the system. Also, let me know what pizza you would like. Or should we try something other than pizza this month? I'll need more than just one person to say yes, and I'll need some good suggestions for alternatives if we are to attempt this curious experiment.
2. I could really use your help and so could the Friends of the Library. Starting Sept. 17 the Friends will be gearing up for the annual book sale. If you can help out, which I really hope you can, they will be working Wednesday Night and Thursday Night on set-up. They will be tearing down on Sunday. If you want to help, let me know. For those that do help out, the Friends have informed me that you will either get a discount or first pick on the books. Or both. I can't remember which. Also, remember, this is where the money for stuff like our monthly pizza comes from. This would be a great way to say "Thank you" to the Friends for their generosity. Let me know if you can make or if you think you can. Thanks.

I just wanted to give a big "THANK YOU" to all of those who helped out in the parade! For those of you who worked, you know who you are, but for everyone else, here they are;
Bryn drew the amazing panels on the sides of the float and marched.
Ruby helped color the panels and marched.
Amy helped color the panels.
Uy, Janaki and Katie marched.
Auni, Kim, Alex, Vicki and Victor helped decorate the float.
Mei and Tanli marched and did everything else.
If I missed anyone, I'm really sorry and let me know right away, and I will correct the error as quickly as I can. Thanks!

OK. Here is the info for those going to the parade.
-If you want to bring someone to march in the parade, that is great. Let me know ahead of time.
-If you are marching in the parade, let me know what size shirt you wear. I'll try to get one in your size. It will be great if we can all wear a KCLS summer read shirt and a hat. I probably have enough hats, but if you have one you want to wear or contribute to decorating the float and go-cart, that would be great.
-Staging area is at St. Mark’s N. (180th St. and 15th Ave. NE) and it ends at Ridgecrest School (16516 10th Ave. NE), the site of the Celebrate Shoreline Festival
-If you want to help, be there by 9:30 am
-The street closes at 10 am
-The parade starts at 11 am

I have sent out the booklist for the Aug. 12 meeting. If you didn't get one and are coming, let me know and I'll send one off to you as soon as I can. Stuff we’ll be going over at the meeting include the booklist, discussing some visitors to our Sept. meeting, working on parade stuff, and talking about October programs. Let me know if there is anything else that you want to discuss.
