Since you are silly, I made a LiveJournal Community for STAB.

It is also a mirror for that stablog you love so much. XP
And...in case anyone needs to know this, which I doubt they will because you
don't need a password to post to an LJ community...

Eric has put your lists in BWI!!!
Hopefully this will cut down on some of your work as many of the books have full text reviews right there waiting for your perusal.
+ If they are not there, you may still need to look up else where, (like Amazon).
+ If you don't see a list there with your name on it, or you don't remember how to get into BWI ... scroll down its at the very bottom ^__^

I just got my list in BWI (and so did you). So I'd like to plan a booklist meeting for Tuesday, February 10th from 4-6pm. Let me know if you can make it and I will sign you up. Pizza and soda will be provided, as always.
VERY IMPORTANT! I need people to come in and sign their volunteer timesheets right away. If you have any questions about whether or not you did it, call me NOW! I will be in all weekend. I need them done ASAP. Thanks!

Booklist meeting & the booklist process.
Let me know if you asked for a booklist but did not get it.
Also, let me know what you want on your pizza.
Choices of how you review the books:
1) go to amazon.com and find the book.
Double check the author to make sure it is the same one. Look at the editorial reviews (like Publisher's Weekly, VOYA, School Library Journal, Booklist, etc.) and customer reviews to get an idea of the book.
Look at the cover, and, if possible, use the "take a look inside" option.
2) Use databases like Proquest, Infotrac or Books in Print to find the books and look at the reviews there.
3) Go to a bookstore or library and find the book there, leaf through it, look at the cover, look at the back, smell it, etc. to get and idea of the book.
4) Feel free to read the book if you have time [if you are a loser and have nothing better to do ... i'm kidding]
5)The iPac Webcatalog has reviews from Publisher's Weekly of some books if you are in a hurry or just want to try it out.
The questions you should be asking about each item are:
1) Is this something that looks interesting to me or would I like to read it?
2) Who would this appeal to and would that group like to read it? So if it is a Star Trek book, would Sci Fi readers like it? etc.
3) Does this book have mass appeal and should I buy it just becasue it is soooo good?
Let me know if you asked for a booklist but did not get it.
Also, let me know what you want on your pizza.

We are having our STAB meeting, January 6th from 4-6pm. Let me know your pizza preference. Please let board members know who are not checking their e-mail about the meeting as well, if you don't mind.
And if you haven't already let me know which genres you want to review, let me know ASAP. If you need a list with descriptions, scroll down to November 5th. Those who don't choose will just be assigned whatever I think you'll like least. (Kidding. But still, please let me know ASAP.)
Also, I have someone else who would like to visit our meeting. Are you OK with that? Any objections-let me know.
Furthermore, you have a new tool to use to do your reviews. It is a website called BWI (Book Wholesalers Inc.). This is how I purchase my books for the library, so you are basically seeing exactly what I see when I buy my books. Of course, you don't have any money, so you can’t buy anything. You can check out their website at http://www.bwibooks.com/index.php You need log in to get at the information though. And I, in my infinite kindness, have procured them for you. Check your email for that info.
And yet another thing! I have a free list so basically I can buy whatever I want. Think of few titles you would like me to buy and let me know.
Thanks and I look forward to getting back together with you all in the next few weeks.

I can get as many copies of these books as I like and it has no effect on my Budget! So choose away.
The number to the right of the title indicates how many copies of the books, if any, that we have here at Shoreline. The link goes to the record of the book in iPac. Thanks for your help.

Mortal Engines by Philip Reeve-1
Philip Reeve is a first novel set in a dark world fueled by "Municipal Darwinism."
Jingle Boy by Kiernan Scott-0
A holiday-themed novel of unabashed juvenile humor that readers can enjoy all year long.- Lots of laughs as well as a bit of romance make this the perfect gift for teens that love films such as American Pie as well as the nostalgic comic sensibility of A Christmas Story.- Author Kieran Scott has written a number of books for teens and knows what they like.- Strong film interest in the novel bodes well for a long shelf life!
Milkweed by Jerry Spinelli-2
Set in Nazi-occupied Poland just before the Warsaw ghetto uprising, Spinelli's first historical novel tells a tale of heartbreak, hope, and survival though the eyes of a young orphan.
